It sometimes hard
to look back at our teenage years and remember what it was really
like. For most, those memories tend to include first cars, summer jobs,
football games, friends and our first true love. We often hear that
our high school years are the best days of our lives, and we tend to
remember them that way. What is sometimes harder to recall are the
feelings that were going on, feelings that we never felt before. Those
years are usually the first time for teens to feel strife, anger,
depression, and sometimes helplessness and hopelessness. Sadly for
some, those feelings become overwhelming and can have tragic
consequences.
In our world, 60% of our teenagers have thought about suicide, 1 in 6 has made a
suicide plan and nearly 1 in 10 has attempted suicide. Our teens are struggling with peer pressure, bullying, substance
abuse, physical abuse, gang violence, and thousands of them look to Teen Lifeline for a listening ear, a
guiding light, and in some cases, a last resort. Teen Lifeline
provides a safe, confidential and crucial crisis service where teens
help teens make healthy decisions together. Since
its inception, Teen Lifeline’s singular focus has been to help Arizona
teens. It’s a place where teens can turn to their peers in times of
