Presentation of the
Alfredo J. Molina
Community Lifeline Award
The Alfredo J. Molina Community Lifeline Award is presented to individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the service of others in their lifetime, particularly to youth. The recipient serves as a community role model; provides inspiration to others with their personal and professional integrity, leading through creativity, initiative and excellence. In 2005, the award was named in honor of the inaugural recipient, Alfredo J. Molina, for his service to Arizona youth and our community.
TEEN LIFELINE IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THAT LARRY FITZGERALD HAS BEEN SELECTED TO RECEIVE THE 2013 ALFREDO J. MOLINA COMMUNITY LIFELINE AWARD.
Since being drafted by the Cardinals with the third overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft, Larry has gone on to become one of the NFL’s elite players and shatter virtually every receiving record in Cardinals history.
In addition to his contributions on the field, Fitzgerald’s impact in the community has been felt both locally and globally. In 2012, Fitzgerald was named one of three finalists for the “Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year” Award and was also named the recipient of the 14th Annual Arthur S. Arkush Humanitarian Award by Pro Football Weekly, which is given to the NFL player whose contributions to the community and charitable organizations are especially outstanding.
So far in 2013, Fitzgerald has made humanitarian trips to Senegal and to the Philippines. In Senegal, Larry visited projects supported by Oxfam America. In the Philippines, Larry worked with Starkey Hearing Foundation to fit hundreds of children with hearing aids.

THE CAUSE
Imagine a world where 60% of our teenagers has thought about suicide, 1 in 6 has made a suicide plan and nearly 1 in 10 has attempted suicide. Imagine a world where our teens are struggling with peer pressure, bullying, substance abuse, physical abuse, gang violence, and then… imagine limiting access to the resources teens need to deal with those stressors. Sadly… that world is a reality for most of our teens today. In 2011, 39 children in Arizona ages 7-17 died by suicide (one child every 9 days).
Established in 1986 in Arizona, our goal is to answer teens’ calls for help. Each one is not just a call, but a child reaching out for help, for someone to listen. They are looking for a connection. Teen Lifeline provides that connection to hope.
